in my head : waiting for a girl like you - cobra verde

i know that there's been sort of a craze over christophe decarnin designs since he took over at balmain . i don't care because ever since i saw the balmain pants on bryanboy , i've been obsessed . it didn't matter that he had a side by side comparison with michael jackson ( in balmain no less ) . I WANTED THOSE PANTS . how can ANYBODY not want those pants ?! i don't even wear pants ?! obviously i have a logical reason for not wearing pants - they pretty much cover everything up ( and i like everything tight , barely there or both ) ; and when you're in singapore and the temperature is bordering on insanity and humidity is threatening to make your chignon go haywire , pants aren't ideal unless they're shorts . enter - eazy , breazy , not covergirl BUT SPLIT FRONT BALMAIN PANTS !

since i obviously can't afford pants that cost more than $200 ( or more like i'm completely unwilling to pay for them since i hardly even wear pants ) , i decided i would DIY-it . well not entirely . . the idea is more to do-it-for-less as opposed to do-it-yourself . thanks to chainstore giant supre and my tailor , i managed to recreate the balmain for only $70 . ecstatic does not even begin to explain the high i was ( still am ) on when i received them .

    the split back

the back wasn't supposed to turn out like this EXCEPT that my tailor ( bless her ) got a little to overzealous in her attempts to deliver what i wanted . actually i think my enthusiasm rubbed off on her and she just wanted to make me happier so she decided to split the back too . i didn't think it was that bad until i looked at the picture and realised that you could see my tattoo and that's pretty far up my leg . : / BUUUUUUUT now there are even more opportunities to play with it by layering it with interesting hosiery underneath for winter .

on a side note , i think supre is great ; it offers all the seasonal trendy stuff for such affordable prices that it borders on ridiculousness . so if i buy something that's totally seasonal ( like a billion and one bandage dresses ) i'll never regret them because they were so cheap cheap good good .

even though i know the trend is the whole drop crotch thing , i don't own a pair . supre , never one to miss out on trends , offers like 4 variations in a billion colours - these harem pants being one of them . i fell in love with these pants and bought 3 black ones ( 1 to wear just normally , maybe even to work next time ; 1 that went a little DIY-ed wrong ; 1 to DIY normally ) and another in a stone ( a cross between sand and grey ) colour . i know it sounds a bit excessive but i'm thinking these are like leggings and they'll go a long way .

i know that entire spiel sounded like a free plug for supre but it isn't . i'm just so happy that i have access to supre and i will really miss it when i eventually go back to singapore . topshop seems to be so overpriced by comparison .

hmmm great that you are finding ways to bring style into your wardrobe without bursting a giantbigasshole in your pocket. love the balmain pants, but i thought the slit was just the front? well if you dont want it, you can get the tailor to sew back a seam. i think it would be that bad. (:

looks very good on you sophie. cheers!

      YES NO MORE SHOPPING. LOL
