a stranger came up to me yesterday and asked about the tattoo . he proceeded to tell me all about the origins of the phrase and told me the it appeared on king solomon's ring and was to serve as a reminder that all the good stuff ( i.e. wealth + power ) would disappear eventually when he died . i never thought about the good stuff , only the bad . i guess therein lies the lesson - don't get complacent because nothing lasts forever .
